about

“In this world
We walk on the roof of hell
Gazing at flowers”

― Kobayashi Issa

This record was recorded following an intentional overdose suicide attempt. It intends to document the duality of living with bipolar 2. Starting with a depressive episode, the first 6 tracks carry dark tones. hints of aggression, disappointment, depersonalization, psychosis, and deep sadness. These melancholic tracks are punctuated with moments of softness and intimacy. A small flame in a dark room
reaching track 7/8 resembles a switch from depressive to a hypomanic state. the 2nd half of the record is poppy/ and lofting. It embodies notes of optimism and focus while also being punctuated with the haunting thoughts of the prior depressive episodes. It looks in to the sun while contemplating it's own shadow.
all over this record is thematic in exploring addiction, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, dependency issues, and guilt. At the same time it exists to educate on the polarities of the bipolar experience.

it's important to know that these mood shifts can not be controlled. they can be minimized thru proper medication, yet the road to self control is long and rocky. Recognize when a person with bipolar is having an episode. communicate openly about what is needed during that time. Offer a hand in a supportive (not affirmative) way. Check in Check in Check in.
